Nurse Who Treated Ebola Patients in West Africa Returns to Texas, Will Self-Quarantine

AUSTIN, Texas -- Early Wednesday morning, a nurse who had been treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone returned to her home in Texas. The nurse, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, showed no signs of the disease, but CDC protocols placed her at "some" risk due to her contact with the patients. She has agreed to voluntarily self-quarantine at her home while she waits for the Ebola incubation period to pass. 29 Oct 2014

Davis Campaign Running Out of Money In Last Week of Race

AUSTIN, Texas -- With the release of the most recent campaign finance reports, Attorney General and Republican nominee for Governor Greg Abbott is soaring ahead of his Democrat opponent, State Senator Wendy Davis, not just in the polls, but also in the money race. As reported by Breitbart Texas, Abbott has about $13.3 million cash on hand for the final week before election day, having raised over $45 million during this election cycle. Poll: 67 Percent of Texans Support Voter ID

AUSTIN, Texas -- The latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll shows that over two-thirds of Texas voters have a favorable opinion of the state's Voter ID law, and over half have a very favorable opinion. The majority also do not believe that the law has a negative effect on voter turnout, with 43 percent saying that it has no effect, 8 percent saying it increases turnout, 38 percent saying that it decreases turnout, and 10 percent answered "don't know". 29 Oct 2014

Second Texas Nurse Amber Vinson Ebola Free, Coming Home

HOUSTON, Texas – Texas second Ebola infected nurse, Amber Vinson, has been confirmed to be Ebola free and is returning home to Dallas. Vinson joins Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital’s Nina Pham as the only two people to both contract and recover from Ebola in the United States. Despite White House Views, Army General and Troops Quarantined

HOUSTON, Texas -- A U.S. Army Major General and 10 other military personnel returning from Liberia are now undergoing “controlled monitoring” also known as a quarantine. This comes despite the Obama Administration’s pleadings with four states’ governors not to implement mandatory quarantines for people returning from Africa. ‘Shut Down All Ports’ Group Tries Again

HOUSTON, Texas -- The group that failed miserably in its attempt to shut down legal ports of entry in September is back to try it again. The first attempt failed so badly that leaders “cancelled” the event in the middle of the night before it was scheduled because of alleged cartel threats. “That’s what I would say if I couldn’t get anyone to show up,” a Brownsville police officer told this writer when about 5 or 6 protesters showed up at the bridge where he was assigned.
