Academy Sports & Outdoors doesn't want Kansas City Royals fans to have to wait until tomorrow to buy championship gear, should the team clinch its first World Series title in 29 years on Wednesday evening.

The Texas-based company says it will reopen its Wichita, Kansas City and Topeka stores Wednesday night — or in the early hours of Thursday morning — to sell championship gear if the Royals win game 7 of the World Series.

A picture of dozens of boxes of merchandise was posted to Academy's official Twitter handle on Tuesday, following the Royals 10-0 dismantling of the San Francisco Giants.

Let's hope this promotion isn't a jinx for the Royals, a team that is seeking its first World Series title since George Brett and crew took the 1985 championship.

Academy, meanwhile, entered the Wichita market in 2012 with the opening of a store at 2710 N. Maize Road, near 29th Street North and Maize Road. In January, Academy announced plans to build a second Wichita store, this one at southeast corner of Greenwich Road and K-96. That store is slated for a 2015 opening.
