Pelican Grand Beach Resort and Fort Lauderdale-based Miller Construction Company have begun $5 million worth of renovations to the hotel, which are scheduled to debut by the spring.
"We're really excited because these new additions really round out the hotel," said General Manager Robert Keesler said. "Before, we only had very small meeting rooms. This opens us up for a very large corporate market and the ability to host weddings year round."
There are four different construction projects going on at the hotel simultaneously, which will more than double the meeting space at the resort and add new guest features.

The 156-room boutique resort is adding a 12th floor for its penthouse, which will feature a 65-foot-long terrace and a private dining room for eight guests. There will also be a private elevator to the penthouse. It's scheduled to be completed by January.
The hotel will add a spa area to its 11th floor called the SpaSweden, with five indoor treatment rooms and two outdoor treatment rooms. It's expected to debut between January and March.
Also new to the hotel's 11th floor will be the Oceanview ballroom and terrace, which will be able to host up to 100 people for weddings and other social events. The ballroom will have a new kitchen area and restrooms and is scheduled to be completed between January and March.
Another ballroom, the Atlantic ballroom and terrace on the first floor, is set to debut in December and will be able to hold meetings for up to 60 people, or weddings and other social events for up to 80 people.
