The owner of a trailer park on the Susquehanna River where elderly and poor people live sold the land to Aqua America PVR so they can build a pump station that will withdraw 3 million gallons per day from the river to sell for fracking.

The residents, most of them middle-aged or elderly, were offered only token payments to help them relocate in an area where the influx of gas workers has already sent rents soaring. Although some did leave, others decided to fight back with the help of anti-fracking activists and Occupy Wall Street.

This is just another example of how you can become a victim of fracking even if you are not living in a zone of extraction. These people can’t afford to move their homes.

I blogged about this previously: Frackers to Riverdale Mobile Home Park: Get out of our way!

Aqua America is the company that bottles Dasani the water that received a score of D from EWG’s 2011 Bottled Water Scorecard.

Aqua America is also lobbying for expanded fracking.

Private Water Companies Join Forces With Fracking Interests

Two of the country’s largest private water utility companies are participants in a massive lobbying effort to expand controversial shale gas drilling — a heavy industrial activity that promises to enrich the water companies but may also put drinking water resources at risk.

What’s next from Aqua America? Recycled frack water in a Dasani bottle?

Latest UPDATE.
