Blotter: Police search for suspect in store robbery in Denton

Denton police are in search of a man involved in an aggravated robbery Tuesday night.

Police said a masked man came into a convenience store in the 1200 block of North Interstate 35E at 10:57 p.m. with a gun and demanded money.

According to reports, the manager working at the time told police that a man walked in with a handgun and pointed the gun at him while demanding money.

Officer Ryan Grelle, spokesman for Denton police, said an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen from the business.

No injuries occurred in the robbery and the suspect fled on foot after getting the money, Grelle said.

Anyone with information about the aggravated robbery is asked to call Detective Keith Martin at 940-349-7961.

2500 block of West Oak Street — A woman was charged with aggravated assault Tuesday after attempting to injure her boyfriend with a knife, Denton police said.

According to reports, the boyfriend, 24, called police at 10:46 p.m. Tuesday after his 25-year-old girlfriend allegedly swung a knife at him because he wouldn’t leave her apartment.

Grelle said the woman had a cut on her hand and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

15700 block of Bonanza Road — A woman reported to Denton County Sheriff’s deputies that someone stole several high-dollar items from her airplane hangar Tuesday morning.

According to reports, an $8,000 all-terrain vehicle, an $18,000 tractor and a $3,500 kit airplane were missing.

From 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday:

Denton County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers handled 911 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve. Thirty-nine people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton police responded to 305 service and officer-initiated calls and posted 21 reports online.

Denton firefighters responded to 34 medical calls, one outside trash or rubbish fire, two gas leaks and one vehicle fire.
