Gun Activists Continue Battle With Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Gun rights activists are prepared to battle with the City of Arlington again on Wednesday after a federal judge sided with the group earlier this year. This all comes as city council members voted Tuesday night to go back to laws which were originally in place, specifying where people can approach cars at intersections.
This is something that has been an issue for the Open Carry Tarrant County gun supporters. They have held demonstrations in several North Texas cities, but were pushed out of Arlington when the city passed an ordinance that the group claimed was a restriction of their right to free speech, as it prohibited them from handing out information in certain areas.
The group took the city to federal court and the judge agreed with them, but the fight is not over.
The push to stop panhandling and soliciting in Arlington received a new surge on Tuesday night when city leaders voted to move forward with new legislation. The revised law once again details where people can approach cars and hand out pamphlets at specific intersections.
City attorneys said that the new measures meet the court’s guidelines.
But, even though the city reworked its laws, Open Carry Tarrant County said that it plans to take the city to court again.
