Blotter: Police charge man with injury to a child

Denton police responded to a call about an assault of a 7-year-old girl Tuesday.

According to reports, someone contacted the police after they learned a little girl had been physically abused by a 28-year-old man inside an apartment in the 2000 block of Charlotte Street.

Reports show some of the residents inside the apartment told the caller that the man pulled the child’s hair and told her to be quiet before he fled the scene.

Police reports show they contacted the girl and were able to confirm the assault. The suspect eventually returned to the scene, police said, and he was arrested and charged with injury to a child.

Other reports

3900 block of Black Butte Drive — A woman reported that someone broke into her vehicle overnight Monday. According to reports, several items of hers were stolen from the back seat of her car.

900 block of Bernard Street — Sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. Tuesday, a man’s vehicle was broken into, according to reports.

He told police his wallet and phone charger were missing.

From 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday:

Denton County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers handled 781 service and officer-initiated calls for the agencies they serve. Forty-seven people were booked into Denton County Jail.

Denton police responded to 263 service and officer-initiated calls and posted 26 reports online.

Denton firefighters responded to 32 medical calls, one electrical short, one fire call, one cooking fire, one trash fire and two vehicle accidents.
