Blotter: Two men arrested after handgun fired on I-35E

Two men were arrested Saturday evening after police said they fired two rounds from a handgun into the air while driving north on Interstate 35E, according to a police report.

Both suspects were drunk, according to the report.

A witness reported the gunfire to police, and officers were able to catch up with the suspects’ vehicle, pulled them over at the Fort Worth Drive exit and found the handgun, according to the report.

The two men, ages 21 and 29, were arrested on charges of discharging a firearm in certain municipalities and driving while intoxicated.

1000 block of Interstate 35W — Police reported stopping a suicidal person Saturday evening on Interstate 35W.

Officers located the person’s vehicle traveling northbound at the Ganzer Road exit. The person voluntarily accepted transport to Denton County MHMR’s psychiatric triage for help, according to a police report.

Police recovered three weapons in the vehicle for “safekeeping” and plan to return them later, according to the report.

900 block of Cleveland Street —A 20-year-old woman reported a case of fraud on Saturday afternoon after she said she paid for concert tickets from an individual through Craigslist but never received them.

The victim told police she used a prepaid credit card to send the seller $225, the first half of the payment, and the seller stopped all further contact after receiving the funds. The tickets never arrived.
