A 13-year-old in a stolen vehicle led police on a high-speed chase Thursday afternoon.

Northeast Police Chief James Edland said the teenager jumped into a vehicle while he was at a juvenile camp and drove off near New Hope and Arvin Hill roads. The stolen vehicle reached speeds estimated at 100 miles per an hour, Edland said.

The chase, he said, lasted about 15-20 minutes and ended in Denton city limits at Oak Hill Drive and North Carroll Boulvard.

“Nobody was injured and the chase ended because the street dead-ended,” Edland said.

He said Denton County Sheriff’s Office deputies followed the chase to the end and took the teenager into custody.

Northeast police charged the teen with evading arrest, Edland said.
