Denton police said Friday that an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian is under investigation after a woman was left hospitalized.
Officer Ryan Grelle, spokesman for Denton police, said police responded to the incident at about 9 p.m. Wednesday near Interstate 35 and University Drive.
He said a Ford Escape driven by a 54-year-old Denton woman was traveling northbound and hit a woman walking on the right shoulder of the road.
“She reported not seeing the other woman,” Grelle said about the driver. “They ran into each other.”
According to police, the pedestrian was on the right-hand shoulder and the driver was in the right-hand lane.
Grelle said the case is under investigation and he isn’t sure whether citations were issued at the time of the accident.
According to the pedestrian’s mother, her 29-year-old daughter suffered multiple injures.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where she still remains, her mother said.
