“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

Despite what you think or what appears to be obvious, The Golden Compass did not get it’s name from the 2007 movie starring Nicole Kidman. Sam Elliott, Eva Green, Dakota Blue Richards & Daniel Craig. Yes it was a good movie but...The Golden Compass was named after the compass animation used in the opening theme song for Its first series of travel videos called "Uncharted". TGC produces videos filmed in one corner of the world and shares it with the rest of the world.

“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J. R. R. Tolkien

Back in 2009 musician Christopher Rudder travelled to Europe for the first time. Being an avid photographer, (the type, who since he was a teen walked around with a camera documenting life) decided to document his experience. Prior to 2009's trip Chris has gone back and forth between photography and videography/editing using various programs such as iPhoto, Apreture, iMove, Final Cut Express & Final Cut Pro. Under his media company (The Rudder Company), he had photographed, filmed and edited a couple of low budget commercials and music videos, a few weddings and several ads, demo reels and live performances for musicians, actors and small business owners. The trip and experience ignited a flame for travelling once he returned back home.

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

"Uncharted" was born and it's the travel series that put The Golden Compass in motion. In the subsequent seasons, just to name a few; "Uncharted" has run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain and watched horses run in the Pialo di Siena in Italy. From sailing across the Adriatic Sea to sailing across the Aegan Sea. From riding a hot air balloon over the caves of Cappadocia, Turkey to riding a bicycle through the streets of Budapest, Hungary. "Uncharted" got classy in the the city of music Vienna, Austria and let it all out in the world famous EXIT music festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. From sky diving in the Algarve, Portugal to diving off a boat in the hot springs of Santorini, Greece. This is only the beginning!
"Uncharted" had indirectly created the purpose of The Golden Compass, which is to produce beautifully filmed and creatively edited travel videos which bring the history, culture, architecture, festivals, music, customs, religions, food, lifestyle and nature from one part of the world and share that beauty with the rest of the world.

“To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.” – Aldous Huxley

In 2012 Season 3 of "Uncharted" started gaining some media attention when its episode "Fifty Degrees Or Hotter (Seville, Spain)" was featured in Serbian's main online, TV & radio news source "b92" to promote travel to Spain. When Serbia's "b92" learned that TGC's "Uncharted" had three episodes about Serbia's capital Belgrade ("Where The Danube Kisses The Sava - Belgrade, Serbia) and featured them... It sparked a world wind of emotions, comments and fans praising TGC's positive work and coverage of the other-wised negatively portrayed country. Soon after The Golden Compass received features in Serbia's "24 Sata" & "Danas"
In "Uncharted" Season 4, not only were the first two episodes "My Name Is Skadarlija (Belgrade, Serbia)" featured in b92. The Golden Compass, following many "b92" comments decided to visit other parts of Serbia, and was well received. In the episode "LoveFest 2013 (Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia)" The Golden Compass was invited to open the outdoor Cinema Zone part of LoveFest with a speech and a screening of "Where The Danube Kisses The Sava (Belgrade, Serbia)". TGC was amongst LoveFest's special guest's with artists and was interviewed on the Serbian national TV network "RTS - Radio Television Serbia".
