A pre-kindergarten parent engagement/attendance class is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Denton ISD’s central services annex, 230 N. Mayhill Road in Denton.
Tonight’s two-hour class is designed to inform parents about the state compulsory attendance law and district policies relating to attendance, Muncy said. The class will also offer tips and suggestions on parenting and the importance of getting children to school on time and preparedness.
An invitation was extended to parents whose children are getting close to violating compulsory attendance to attend tonight’s class, Muncy said. Parents and guardians with children in pre-K are also invited to attend, according to the district. Childcare will not be provided.
The district intends to conduct the class twice a year, according to Denton ISD officials.
