The developer of the Parkview Senior Living Community in Caledonia is withdrawing a proposal for 86 new apartments on a neighboring, now-vacant site.

The independent senior apartments, as proposed to the village early this month, was to be built in connected clusters of three or four units, each one story with two bedrooms, 1,445 square feet and attached garages. The project was planned on about 15 acres south of 4½ Mile Road and east of Douglas Avenue.

Alf McConnell, of Parkview developer Alf McConnell & Associates in Illinois, said Wednesday he is withdrawing the plan, which underwent a concept review by the Caledonia Plan Commission on Tuesday. He declined to comment further.

The project previously was planned to go to the Caledonia Plan Commission for a rezoning hearing November.
