Thousands of people tweeted support and prayers to Marysville-Pilchuck High School after Friday's fatal shooting.
But one gesture showed the power of good sportsmanship.
Friday was Spirit Day as Marysville-Pilchuck's football team geared up for a playoff matchup against Oak Harbor.
After the shooting, the game was canceled, never to be played.
But then, in a show of support, Oak Harbor forfeited and took second place in WESCO North.
That drew a Twitter response from one of Marysville-Pilchuck's varsity players.
"Big shout out to Oak Harbor for taking 2nd Place in WESCO North. You guys are the real League Champions," Nicholas Alonso tweeted.
Friday evening, the Oak Harbor team showed up at the Marysville-Pilchuck team meeting to offer their continued support.
