Phil Amato, a long-time anchor at First Coast News, will be joining Action News beginning Monday.
Amato will anchor the the CBS-47 and Fox-30 morning news casts, both of which begin at 5 a.m.
Amato resigned three months ago from his job anchoring the morning news at First Coast News. He had been with the channel for more than 20 years, working as a reporter, anchor and producer.
"It's something we're very much looking forward to," said Jim Zerwekh, vice president and general manager both stations. "Phil has a tremendous amount of experience in the market. Jacksonville viewers liked him."
Last month, he started a job as a sales associate at Watson Realty. Amato, who has been a licensed real estate agent for more than a decade, said he wanted to find a career where he didn't have to wake up at 2:30 a.m. every day.
Amato will be on the CBS station from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and on the Fox station from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m.
