RGIII Fully Participates in Redskins Practice for First Time Since Injuring Ankle

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Redskins coach Jay Gruden has again left the door open for Robert Griffin III’s return, saying Wednesday the franchise quarterback will split first-team reps in practice all week with Colt McCoy ahead of Washington’s Week 9 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Griffin was a full participant in practice today, the first time he hasn’t been limited since dislocating his left ankle in Week 2 against Jacksonville.
However, Griffin has yet to be cleared for game action by team doctors, Gruden noted.
With the Redskins scheduled for a Week 10 bye, Gruden did say if he feels Griffin returning in Week 11 against Tampa Bay is a better fit, then that’s when he’ll return.
As far as splitting reps, Gruden believes it should have no effect on the rest of the offense’s effort in practice or how they perform on game day.
“That’s the big thing, I think the guys are gonna play hard,” he said. “They’ve already showed they’ll play hard for Kirk, they’ll play hard for Colt, they’ll play hard for Robert; so it shouldn’t have any impact whatsoever.”

More reps for RG3 with the No. 1s this week. Chance he could play vs. Minny if he shows mentally he's ready, Gruden says.

Gruden left the door open for an RG3 return. But says if he feels the Tampa game (Nov. 16) is a better fit he's fine doing it that way

Today's practice was a glorified walk through though, Gruden says. Thursday and Friday the key for RG3.
