Day After Redskins 20-17 Win Over Cowboys Dubbed ‘Bashaud Breeland Day’
More from 106.7 the Fan
WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Ah yes, come one, come all. Gather around the Bashaud Breeland tree and sing Bashaud Breeland carols on this joyous Bashaud Breeland Day.
That’s what 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier dubbed the Tuesday following the Redskins unlikely 20-17 Monday Night Football upset of Dallas, after the rookie Redskins corner held Dez Bryant to just 3 receptions, 30 yards and 1 touchdown, only eight days after Bryant had hauled in 9 balls for 151 yards against the New York Giants.
Breeland was credited with 6 tackles and 4 passes defensed, for his pious efforts.
The radio duo were in the Bashaud Breeland holiday spirit throughout their four-hour broadcast, taking phone calls and reading tweets — from the designated #BashaudBreelandDay hashtag — from the many others around the Beltway and beyond who were in the spirit of giving, as well.

Bashaud Breeland Day, the most inclusionary of all the nondenominational football-themed holidays.
Wishing all a merry #BashaudBreelandDay and Peace to all mankind, except Dallas fans, thanks @granthpaulsen

What better way to celebrate Bashaud Breeland Day, than to speak with the creator, Bashaud Breeland?
“It’s Bashaud Breeland Day. It’s a big holiday as you know here in Washington, D.C.,” Paulsen introduced. “What are you doing to celebrate the holiday? Is there a ham cooked, are there presents, is there a tree with a star on it somewhere? How are you celebrating Bashaud Breeland Day?”
“Nah, I’m just spending it with my family,” Breeland answered.
“That’s a great way to celebrate it,” Paulsen said.
“Well, that’s what the holiday’s about, Bashaud,” Rouhier said. “It’s about celebrating loved ones, and stopping receivers, and being physical and forcing fumbles, sometimes; it’s a great day.”
“It’s a day that means a lot to us, Bashaud,” Paulsen went on. “And you’ve provided it, and we want to thank you for that. I want to wish you personally a ‘happy Bashaud Breeland Day.’”
“You probably don’t hear that enough,” Rouhier tacked on. “But happy Bashaud Breeland Day to you.”
“Cause you’re a giver,” Paulsen said. “And you always give to us, but we want to give to you. We want you to know that we want you to have a happy Bashaud Breeland Day.”
“Thanks,” Breeland responded.
Happy Bashaud Breeland Day, everybody. Get home safe.
