Suspect Lawndale Gunman Taken Into Custody

LAWNDALE (CBSLA.com) — A suspected gunman was taken away on a stretcher Wednesday after a standoff in Lawndale.
The suspect fired several shots outside a home in the 4200 block of W. 164 Street near Hawthorne Boulevard, officials said.
Nearby homes were evacuated during the standoff.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. the gunman was found shot. It was unclear if his wound was self-inflicted or he was shot by officers.
The California Highway Patrol closed the Hawthorne Blvd. offramps during the investigation.
No further details were released.
