Houston (CBS Houston) – Texans tackle David Quessenberry, who is battling non-hodgkins lymphoma, was in the locker room Wednesday doing what he loves most, hanging with his teammates.

“It varies,” Quessenberry said when asked about his good days and bad days. “Every round is different. We just take it day by day and if it’s a good day, we’re coming in and kicking butt in here.”

His battle with cancer may have taken away his ability to play this year, but it hasn’t taken his passion for the game.

“(I’m) always learning and trying to improve mentally,” Quessenberry said. “When I do get the opportunity to come in, I’m taking notes like crazy and learning as much as I can.”

The Texans offensive line is a very tight knit group. His teammates, lead by Chris Myers and Duane Brown, have started the ‘DQ Strong’ campaign complete with tee shirts to show their support. But the best thing they do is continue to be Quessenberry’s  teammate.

“It’s good being around the guys,” Quessenberry said. “Going to team dinners, just hanging out in the cafeteria and meeting rooms… that’s the best medicine for me.”
