Rob Neyer from Fox Sports joins The Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Jason La Canfora to discuss the World Series. It has been 29 years since the Kansas City Royals have made an impression in MLB.  Rob Neyer, who is a sportswriter for Fox Sports and grew up in Kansas City, says “The TV ratings were twice as high in Kansas City as it was in San Francisco.”  He stated not to slam the San Francisco fans but “there is nothing else right now in Kansas City.”

With all the talks of Manager of the Year, the Orioles manager Buck Showalter is in the running as well as Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost. Neyer says, “It’s very tempting for people at this time of the year to focus on the results instead of the process. You have to focus on the managers who have best process instead of results.” The process factors into what will happen next season.

The Royals have had some incredible moments in the post season.  Some of the plays that have been made and the hits they have had, many wonder how much luck is involved.   “Very few teams have won a World Series that hasn’t been lucky.  The Royals have been lucky.”  Eric Hosmer of the Royals is hitting .400 in playoffs.

According to Jason La Canfora he seems to embody luck as well as Lorenzo Cain. “These guys are being portrayed” as stars in the media,” said Neyer. “Hosmer has had good seasons in the past but not this season. But he is being called a star.” The Royals as a whole “are the least strikeout hitters in MLB.  They are contact hitters. They were a below average team this season, even with their contact hitting” says Neyer.

When Neyer was asked the BIG question, who wins tonight? He says, “I actually believe this is an unpredictable baseball game, because they are very evenly matched.  They are both going to pitch 6 or 7 pitchers.  I think we are going to see a world record of pitchers in a post season game.”   The element of speed and overall aggressiveness will definitely factor in the win for tonight as well as how well the pitching is.

Game 7 of the World Series will begin at 8:07pm on FOX.
