Brian Azzarello doesn’t mince words.

The Chicago native and DC Comics veteran has cut out a reputation as a dynamic storyteller with an unmatched command of dialogue. Between the two, he’s got a left hook and a right jab with which to strongly define his characters in both deed and word. His strengths are at their apex in his tenure over Wonder Woman, the character redefined most thoroughly, although not the most radically, by DC’s “New 52″ reboot of their universe.

Sadly, but surely, that tenure is at its end, but it is not concluding quietly — trust us, we read the issue this morning, and there are at least three major developments, one of which is sure to cause contention among fans of both the classic and revamped Wonder Woman. We chatted up the departing scribe at New York Comic Con.

Brendan McGinley is editor round these parts when not writing comics or Cracked columns. You can say a neighborly hello to him on Twitter @BrendanMcGinley. You’d probably enjoy his supervillain comic Heist, if you’re a fan of tarnished souls and brutal retribution.

Down we go.

Crime pays.

Brendan interviewed Azzarello not so long ago about Future’s End.

Yep, definitely not a good sign.

Definitely not a good sign.
