Amid reports that clients of Newton-based mobile payments tech firm Paydiant may have been breached, co-founder Chris Gardner said there is "no evidence" that the Paydiant technology has been compromised.
Earlier today, CNBC reported that CurrentC, a mobile payments technology made by Paydiant, sent an email to its pilot users stating that an unauthorized third party had obtained email addresses of some of its users.
CurrentC, made by Paydiant, is the mobile payments technology used by members of the Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX), a group of large-scale retailers including Target and Wal-Mart.
"MCX made us aware of a potential security incident involving the email addresses of individuals in their pilot program," Gardner said in an email. "At this time, there is no evidence that Paydiant's systems have been compromised and there is no impact for our customers. Data security is a top priority for Paydiant and all of our customers and partners. We take our responsibility very seriously and will continue to do everything we can to take the most robust security measures possible to protect our customers' data."
