The University of Texas is the No. 30 ranked university in the world, according to U.S. News & World Report's first-ever Global University Rankings report.
"This ranking confirms what we see on our campus every day: outstanding faculty teaching world-class students," said outgoing UT President Bill Powers in a statement.
UT ranks as No. 23 among all U.S. universities, and No. 10 among public universities in the U.S., according to the report.
The Global University Rankings report uses different criteria than its sister U.S. News Best College Rankings, where UT only came in at No. 53.
The global report focuses on academic research and reputation, and does not separate undergraduate or graduate programs, but does heavily factor things such as faculty publications and cited papers.
In a separate ranking released this week by College Factual, UT placed No. 4 in Texas measured by a variety of metrics.
