Pinthouse Pizza, the popular new brewhouse and eatery on Burnet Road, is looking south to expand.

As first reported in the latest Austin Beer Guide magazine, and later by Austin 360, Pinthouse is going to open a second location in South Austin.

Pinthouse Pizza's Burnet Road location on any given night is crammed with lovers of pizza and beer sitting shoulder to shoulder – often with countless young children scampering about.

According to the guidebook, owner Ryan Van Biene plans to open the second Pinthouse Pizza in the first half of 2015. Austin 360 reports that the new location will be in a former Chilis in the Brodie Oaks shopping center at 4236 S. Lamar Blvd. Biene told Austin Beer Guide that the new location will feature a larger patio area than the one present at the Burnet Road location and will have a greatly expanded brewing capacity.

Earlier this month, Pinthouse Pizza took home a high-profile award at the Great American Beer Festival.
