Walmart takes down online ‘Fat Girl Costumes’ Halloween section

It looks like Walmart may have some explaining to do in regards to its Halloween costume categories online.

The internet lit up Monday morning when word spread of a Halloween costume section on Walmart.com that allowed users to search for “Fat Girl Costumes” on the site.

The section was quickly taken down on the site, but not before the internet police caught the act. Tuesday of last week Kristyn Washburn noted the questionable section on the site on her personal twitter account.

As one site points out, an ad was even popping up on Facebook for the “Fat Girl Costumes”.

Many have pointed out that the section was likely written by a programmer of the site as a joke but was never changed. The site now shows “We found 0 items for the Fat Girl Costumes page” when searching for the section. Walmart has released no statement on the matter.
