The Free Music Archive (FMA) is a noncommercial online library of high-quality mp3s that want to be shared. Managed with a curatorial approach by nonprofit radio station WFMU, the project is a collaboration between a worldwide network of fellow curators including broadcasters, arts organizations, record labels, venues, festivals, artist coalitions, and other positive forces in music.
The FMA is the first curated platform for artists who wish to participate in the open sharing of their art under the Creative Commons licensing framework. Creative Commons offers a set of tools for creators to keep their copyright while allowing for certain uses of their work, and in many cases, this includes the types of creative noncommercial video projects that flourish here on Vimeo.
