Operations Manager

The Operations Manager position at Important Media reports directly to the CEO, and is primarily tasked with managing various revenue streams and working to optimize revenue per pageview, as well as managing HR and the IM projects they’re assigned to.

Working directly with the IM Executive team, the Operations Manager:

  • researches and implements programs that will help improve our financial performance from existing operations.
  • manages operations on IM’s various business divisions, including but not limited to Cost of Solar, Wisegrasshopper, HomeSolarPV, GreenHomeDirectory, and the IM blogs
  • Sends monthly reports to the IM Executive Team on existing revenue streams and strategizes ways to improve them, as well as the divisions listed in #2, above.
  • Working directly with the Business Development Manager, the Operations Manager:

  • directs, advises on, formalizes, and oversees policies and procedures to be followed throughout the network to help IM adhere to strict professional guidelines and continuous improvement in HR productivity, engagement, and especially happiness
  • Working directly with the Director of Solar Sales, the Operations Manager:

  • directs pricing and contractor recruitment strategy
  • aligns resources for COS blogging, social media, and site growth
  • Additional duties:

  • Hiring and project management of all outside contractor work performed for the network, with final approval from the CEO
  • Ad Ops: integration of all third party sold campaigns into our DoubleClick For Publishers, tracking and ensuring campaign delivery, billing in a timely fashion, and assuring deposits
  • Invoicing and Collections

  • Sponsorship Sales Account Manager (Remote)
    The Important Media network is currently seeking an experienced outside sales professional who wants to lead our sponsorship sales efforts. Ideal candidate can work independently and do both inside and outside sales of sponsorship packages and has at least 2 years experience with direct sales of advertising and/or sponsorships. Great personal skills, attention to detail, solid knowledge of all aspects of health, wellness, and sustainability and a strong work ethic are required. Position would work with the Business Development Manager and report directly to the CEO. Generous commissions on sales and a stimulating yet low-stress work environment.

    Salary DOE. Base pay negotiable, and large upside potential on commissions.

    Franchise Business Development Manager
    Important Media has developed, and is spinning off, a green home service franchise business under the brand name Pono Home. Pono Home was selected as one of 2014’s top 15 most promising clean tech startups with the potential to dramatically reduce carbon emissions and fossil fuel consumption by the Energy Excelerator, a clean tech incubator funded by the U.S. Navy. Currently operating in Honolulu, HI, and looking to expand its mainland operations through franchising, Pono Home is seeking an experienced franchise manager with at least 2 years experience in franchisee management. The position would entail inventory management setup and ongoing management of franchisee relations.

    Candidate may be located anywhere in the continental U.S.

    Salary plus commission, DOE.

    Development Intern (Remote)
    Important Media is seeking to develop an online green home directory, and is looking for a development intern (unpaid) to help get the program launched and running. Candidate will receive full support from IM staff, report directly to the Business Development Manager, and interact regularly with the CEO. You’ll have full support of the Important Media network and its ~3 million monthly readers to help you build a powerful engine for good!

    3 month unpaid position, with review at the end of that period and potential for longer term engagement.
