So you say you don't have anything to do on Halloween. Maybe all your plans have fallen apart, or you just don't feel like going to a party or a bar's cheesy costume contest this year. That's okay, because Houston has you covered.

This year Halloween falls on a Friday, which means that you have a whole weekend's worth of events that will take care of your every Halloween planning need. Here are our picks for the best shows going on to sate your thirst for some fun on the greatest holiday of the year.

Gogol Bordello
Warehouse Live, October 31

Stay tuned: Rocks Off will have an interview with these gypsy-punks, a highlight of Free Press Summer Fest 2012, Thursday morning.

Tera Melos, By the End of Tonight, Sunrise and Ammunition
Fitzgerald's, October 31

For math rock aficionados, Tera Melos have established themselves as legends in the scene through years of hard work. However, through the years, their songwriting skills have only gotten stronger and stronger as they've injected more melody than ever into their jagged riffage.

Perhaps more exciting than Tera Melos however is a rare appearance by local band By the End of Tonight, Houston's own math-rock legends. Their shows are always immaculate and since they hardly play these days, this could be your last chance to see them for a long time.

Julian Casablancas + the Voidz
House of Blues, October 31

Beware Strokes fans: front man Julian Casablancas' latest project with the Voidz couldn't be further from his famous band's slick indie-rock; this is noise-punk like you've never heard Casablancas dabble in before. However, even if you've never liked the Strokes, you may love his new band, and Strokes fans will probably follow him along for this ride into heavier music.

Gritsyween feat. the Bug
Eastdown Warehouse, October 31

Let's face it, when it comes to dubstep, you either love it or you don't. There are tons of dedicated fans in Houston though and they've made Gritsy a local institution, hosting huge parties at every venue they bring their shows to. If your idea of a fun Halloween party is dancing under the flashing lights to throbbing bass, then this is the place for you this year.

FuzzyFest-1029.jpg
Fuzzy Fest VI
Mango's, November 1

Featuring performances from 11 bands including Some Nerve and Dress Code, this is going to be one rocking show, and you'll even get to feel good about yourself. The money goes to the Wildlife Center of Texas to make sure our animal friends stick around for a long time.
