Audience Development Account Executive

Are you a hungry, focused and results-oriented salesperson who thrives in a fast paced environment where you can truly deliver value? If so, we invite you to consider our Audience Development team at the Dallas Business Journal. This team member will generate new business from print and digital subscription sales, reprints sales, and trade show booth sales. New business will be developed by making outbound phone calls, developing referral networks and attending various networking events.

This position is a combination of inside and outside sales, and requires giving sales presentations. Previous experience with business-to-business sales and multichannel sales is a plus, but not mandatory. Minimum of 2 year's sales experience is required.

This candidate will be expected to grow the paid subscriber base with our organization utilizing several marketing channels such as:

  • Calling on leads for prospecting and following up on sales. Time could possibly be up to 50% performing inside sales and up to 50% performing outside sales to promote new business acquisition along with conducting seminars
  • Developing strong partnerships with key organizations and trade associations
  • Working with local businesses to set up onsite business development seminars to teach how to use the Dallas Business Journal as a powerful business development tool.
  • Attendance at local business networking events and trade shows to build a strong network that results in referrals, and most importantly connect new audience including paid subscribers


You must be comfortable presenting to business professionals including C-level executives and possess excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following success factors:

  • Strong desire to achieve and desire to be the best.
  • Prior business to business sales experience with proven, documented results.
  • Well organized with good computer skills and be well time managed.
  • Comfort speaking at the executive level and in front of large groups.
  • Superior presentation and organization skills.
  • Networking skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to close business.


We offer a competitive compensation package which includes a base salary, commissions, performance bonuses and an excellent benefits package.
