REDMOND, JR., William Guy William Guy Redmond Jr, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 20 at the age of 92. Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1922, Guy is the son of the late William and Annie Mae Redmond. Guy attended North Dallas High School and graduated from SMU in 1944 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. From 1944 to 1946 guy served as a Radar Electronics Officer in the US Navy. Guy returned to SMU as a faculty member and completed his BS degree in Electrical engineering followed by receiving an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT. Guy was a truly passionate Engineer and Inventor. His engineering career spanned 60 years when he retired at the age of 89 from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control division in Dallas, Texas. He was not only a brilliant inventor, with many patents; he was a kind and patient mentor who generously shared his knowledge, wisdom, and enthusiasm to all. Guy is survived by his wife Joan Redmond; and son Steve Redmond of Dallas; son Ken Redmond and daughter-in-law Peggy Redmond of Denver; and is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Signature Point on the Lake. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UT Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas, Texas.
