Mr. John Alan Nyquist, 87, of Allen, TX. died Thur. Oct. 23, 2014. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tues. Oct. 28 at The Heights Baptist Church, 201 W. Renner Rd. Richardson,TX. John was born Oct. 31, 1926 in Toledo OH., son of Dr. Albion and Gladys Nyquist. He married Betty Lou Bassham on Aug. 30, 1951 in Denison TX. He was a pilot in the US Air Force, and then had a thirty one year career at Braniff International. He was well respected by his peers, and enjoyed all the people he met and worked with. In his spare time he built and flew an aerobatic biplane, built two houses and played his trumpet. His love of flying was only exceeded by his love of family. Survived by his wife Betty and five children: Karen Nyquist, John E. and Elizabeth Nyquist, Ellen Nyquist, Robert and Patricia Nyquist, Laura and Craig Kiefer. Also five grandchildren: John P. and Taylor Nyquist, and Jordan,Holly, and Rachel Kiefer. Preceded in death by his mother, father, and two sisters, Marjorie Burnor and Nancy Levans.
