DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Medicaid now says it will now pay for the transplant evaluation for a 4-month-old in desperate need of a new liver, after a CBS 11 story detailing the family’s fight with the government entity.
Two hospitals already determined she was too sick for the transplant because of a virus.
Sophia McVay’s mother says the infant no longer has the virus, which Medicaid claims it learned only after CBS 11 reached out about the story.
A spokesperson now says Medicaid will pay for Sophia’s transplant evaluation. The family is still waiting to get that in writing.
The family has set up a donation page to help pay for Sophia’s medical bills. Click here to donate.
