Confirmed: Fracking causes earthquakes

in earthquakes

We knew this already because universities have studied the connection between drilling and earthquakes before hence the term: drilling induced seismic activity.

The British Geological Survey’s (BGS) has concluded that recent earthquakes on the Fylde coast were caused from fracking.

Drilling did cause ‘earthquake’

The BGS said the correlations between the earthquakes and the time of fracking operations and the proximity of the quakes to the site, all pointed towards the earthquakes being a result of the fracking process.

They claim the quakes don’t cause any damage but that is not what we are finding around here. There are numerous reports of cracked foundations and walls. Maybe their buildings meet earthquake code but in Texas we don’t have anything like that because we didn’t have earthquakes until we got fracked.

For the past several weeks there have been a couple of quakes every day in Arkansas and about two a week in Oklahoma.

I agree with the chairman of the Blackpool and Fylde Green Party:

“The Government must realise it must stop treating our communities like guinea pigs and accept these techniques carry unacceptable risks to the British public.

“Ministers must stop the industry activity at least until parliament and the public can be guided by a full and robust appraisal of the total risk to the themselves and to the environment.”

You frack–you CRACK!
Many bad old wells around with corroded casing allowing fracking of shale wells to migrate to water aquifers! It has happened, it is happening and it will continue to happen. Our water is being damaged by shale gas fracking, like nothing before!!

0iI & gas industry = exempt from major provisions of the CIean Air Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act !!!!! State Iaws = inadequate, / not properIy enforced. So What can we do? According to a most recent articIe in Sierra magazine: “LocaI ordinances and baIIot initiatives are currentIy the primary recource avaiIabIe to protect communities from the hazards of driIIing and fracking” — Add to that, we have to reaIIy show we mean it- ExampIe: I hope to make the trip as pIanned to AIbany, NY to join feIIow antifrackers to raIIy as the Gov gives his state -of- the- State address—
