Assistant United States Attorney Robert Mosakowski will lead efforts for the Justice Department's Election Day Program for the Middle District of Florida.

Mosakowski will oversee the district's handling of complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses for the upcoming Nov. 4 election, according to a statement.

Federal law protects against acts such as intimidating or bribing voters, buying or selling votes, impersonating voters, and other fraudulent voting activities.

Secretary of State Ken Detzner spoke to county election supervisors last week and warned them to "expect the unexpected," according to a report by Tampa Bay Times.

Polls are indicating a close race between Gov. Rick Scott and Charlie Crist. The candidates would have to be separated by half of one percentage point or less, or 27,500 votes if 5.5 million people vote, to warrant a recount, the Times said.

Mosakowski will be on duty in the Middle District of Florida while polls are open. Public complaints can be reported to him at (813) 274-6129.
