Pilot Point to soon have new lakeside resort

The Lantana Resort and Marina is being bought by a private investor to upgrade the facilities and add new housing additions.

While the deal isn’t expected to be reached for several months as they wait for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department approval, plans are already in the works, said Randy Axtell, who is working on the deal with Axtell Commercial.

There will be a fully operational marina, store, boat and jet ski rentals, guest boat parking and boat slip rentals at the marina. The lodge area will be upgraded and potentially allow beer and wine sales.

The Lone Star Hall at the resort will be upgraded to host live music and other events. The investor also plans to upgrade existing hotel rooms, and add RV parking and equestrian camp sites.

Local business earns TripAdvisor recognition

The Old Irish Bed & Breakfast Wedding and Event Center has earned the 2014 Certificate of Excellence honors from popular travel website TripAdvisor.

The Denton venue, owned by Jim and Rita Patrick, started as an alpaca farm before the couple added a bed and breakfast in 2012. In 2013, they added the wedding venue.

While thousands of businesses receive the distinction each year, it is only given to businesses that consistently have “outstanding” reviews from clients.
