Royalty owners’ arrogance and entitlement will be their undoing

in Royalties

Sadly, my experience with most royalty owners has been that they are arrogant and entitled. Here is an example from a Twitter conversation.

“We apologize for nothing.”

8.6 million dollars? Is that all? Is that all it takes to sell out whole neighborhoods and communities? Having worked for a company that audited royalties, I can assure you that you are getting royally screwed.

Edit: Steve Everley said NARO meant 8.6 million royalty owners [repped] not 8.6 million [repped]. Not sure what repped means but the intent of their tweet is clear: Money matters, people don’t.

There are far more surface owners than mineral owners and the anger at fracking’s harm is growing even in Texas. Smart, ethical royalty owners advocate for the surface owners and for better industry practices. Some even give back a portion of their royalties to help in that effort. Sadly, that is not the majority of royalty owners.

Why are Pennsylvanians receiving bills instead of royalty checks? Please share some of the Oil & Gas laws protecting Texas Royalty Interest owners.

Carol, I can barely keep up with the real live flesh and blood stories about people who have been harmed. I have ZERO interest in protecting royalty interest owners despite the fact that I am one. I would rather protect people.

oh yeah the costs to losing one water source to the DFW area would be staggering and really harm jobs….never forget how all the businesses closed during the West Virginia chemical spill…I monitor the USGS specific conductivity/salinity readings (they naturally go up in the warmer days) to see if any spikes might alert me to possible illegal brind dumping. Here is the info in case you want to moniter your area too.. Its a cut and paste from one of the notifications I recently blogged about.

Once again the almighty dollar trumps human life. We are just collateral damage, a nuisance, an annoyance in the course of collecting their royalties. I find royalty owners who do not care about their fellow humans, their planet, and other living creatures offensive. To them I say, frack off!

Not sure if you were being fecicious or not but “repping” is reaping as I read it. I also think that NARO in PA may look at it differently because in many cases royalty owners are the property owners. Some of the royalty owners in our region who are property owners are finding out that the promise of becoming rich is not happening and the costs of paying for the damage in many cases is far greater than the royalties they reap.

Believe “repping” means “representing” since NARO wants to represent big-time royalty owners. And with only 271 followers on Twitter, their influence with anyone online is doubtful. But they seem to be trying really HARD to join the ranks of the big-time, evil influencers ~ #LetsFrack?

Oh, whoops…their Web site seems to have an ERROR….says there are 5 Million Private Royalty Owners? How could they get that number so wrong on Twitter? Or is the Web site wrong? Maybe they really don’t repp anyone. So, is it 8.6 Million Royalty Owners or 5 Million Private Royalty Owners? And what is the average amount of royalty paid to these “royalty owners”? Let’s Frack!
