The Oracle of Omaha himself, Warren Buffett, made a stop in Pittsburgh to see the new H.J. Heinz Co. exhibit at the Heinz History Center.

On Tuesday evening, the company's board of directors joined Heinz CEO Bernardo Hees and the company's executive leadership team for dinner at the exhibit.

Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) and 3G Capital purchased the iconic Pittsburgh ketchup maker in June 2013 for $28 billion.

The event was held to celebrate the opening of the exhibit and highlight Heinz's Pittsburgh roots. The exhibit opened to the public Sept. 6.

Unveiling the exhibit in September, Hees, who served as CEO at Burger King Worldwide before the Heinz acquisition, acknowledged Heinz has a unique relationship to its hometown, one that doesn't compare to other companies he has led.

"It's unique in the longevity and history of almost 150 years," he said. "Heinz is a global company that was born here, and we're proud of that history and excited to strengthen it."
