Publix Super Markets will open its first store for the Triangle region on Oct. 29 at the new Bradford shopping center in Cary. The company's first location in the Triad will be a 49,000-square-foot store at 34 Miller St. in Winston-Salem.

The Triad's first Publix store won't open until late 2015, but wouldn't you like a sneak preview now?

Well, we have it. Kind of.

Publix Super Markets will open a store in Cary at 7 a.m. Thursday, and the Triangle Business Journal, one of our sister publications, got in early for some photos. It'll be the Lakeland, Fla.-based company's 1,088th store across its six-state region and its first in the Triangle.

On Tuesday, the Triangle Business Journal reported that new staff in the deli, bakery and other fresh food sections were still busy getting ready for anticipated crowds. Most of the dry good products were already on the shelves.

The Cary store is 49,058 square feet almost exactly the size planned for the Triad. As we reported earlier this month, the Winston-Salem supermarket will be built above a parking deck at 34 Miller St., a site that was home to the Masonic Temple of Winston-Salem Inc. for nearly six decades.
