We did the official list. But there's another one. It's unofficial, unauthorized, and unashamedly democratic. It's unsane. Also, now that we think about it: not a list.

The premise was simple. We asked the Vimeo Staff what videos they liked, and why they liked them. Then we arranged that information, slapped on some colors, and cranked up our circa 1934 printing press.

The result is RIGHT HERE SO PLEASE CLICK TO ENTER ITS DEPTHS.

To my mind it's very interesting to get to know the WHY behind a staff pick (or fav). Sometimes I wonder why you do not add a short explanation to the staff picks in general…?

Thanks for the response, Sam, but I think my comment was too vague. I meant: have you guys at vimeo thought about adding an explanation to -every- staff pick that will be picked at vimeo? So that there is a short "explanation-box" or so underneath every staff pick (in the feed or at the site of the video). Deviantart.com has such a feature, if it is still unclear.

Gotcha. It's an interesting idea and we'll definitely consider it for future iterations of the Staff Picks channel. In the meantime, you can definitely get a sense for what we like about a particular video by looking at the staff comments on the videos (at least one staff member, usually, more comments on every Staff Pick.) We also add some editorial when we share these videos on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. I realize that's not exactly what you're referring to, but it is meant to give some context.
