Jose Antonio (Tony) Bosch, Jr., 65, passed away October 3, 2014, at a local Denton nursing home, after a long illness resulting from complications of a stroke suffered 3 years ago. Mr. Bosch was born in Habana, Cuba, on September 21, 1949, and lived in Miami Beach, Florida, (1961-64) and Laredo, Texas, (1964-1968), until moving to Denton, Texas, in 1968 where he resided for the past 46 years.

While in high school in Laredo (St. Joseph's Academy ) he excelled in football and track and field. Tony attended North Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin where he pursued studies in microbiology. His professional career began in Denton, where he worked in the lab at the State of Texas Genetic Screening and Counseling Center for several years. After the State Lab moved to Austin, Texas, Tony continued his career in related fields in Denton and the DFW Metroplex area until his stroke three years ago.

Tony's favorite hobbies included photography and tinkering with old Volkswagen Beetles, and attending professional car and drag races as a spectator at several venues in the DFW area. Once his sons Joseph and Michael were old enough, these same hobbies became a family pursuit for all three of them.

Tony is predeceased by his parents, Jose Antonio Bosch and Rosa Bosch, as well as his wife of 35 years, the former Margaret Abbott of Denton, Texas.

He is survived by his two sons, Joseph and Michael Bosch, both of Denton, Texas; his two brothers and their families: Silverio (Lisa) Bosch, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and their two sons and daughter-in-law Matthew Bosch and Eric (Jennifer) Bosch, all three of Houston, Texas: Eduardo (Judy) Bosch, and their son Thomas, all three of Friendswood, Texas, and their daughter/son-in-law Anne Marie (Joaqui ) Ambia, both of Dallas, Texas; as well as numerous close cousins and their families from San Antonio, Texas and California.

The family wishes to thank all the health professionals caring for Tony during his 3-year illness, as well as all the friends and family who were so supportive during this trying period in Tony's life; a special mention is made of Tony's old high school buds (St. Joseph's Academy Class of 1968) who were extremely supportive with their thoughts and prayers through their unique alumnus network created by them.

A private memorial service is planned in Denton, Texas at a future undetermined date.
