Sandi (Sandra) Joann Boland entered life December 21, 1965, in Ventura County, California; died instantly October 7, 2014, in a one vehicle accident, in Texas. We who are left behind feel it so unfair to take our youngest, our baby sister, from us first. However, God, in His infinite wisdom, chose Sandi to be with Him, pain-free.

Sandi was fortunate to have two families that loved and valued her, in two states. In Texas she is survived by Lacy, her beloved four legged furry child; they were inseparable and devoted to each other. Father, Steve Boland and step-mother Jane; brother, John Boland of Louisiana; sister, Stephanie Keating of Louisiana; lifelong friend, Shelly Lotsey; and friend "J" Jackie. In California she is survived by mother, Carmen Figueroa; sisters, Nicky (Mary Helen) van Nieuwburg, Denise Kendall, and Lucinda Jacobs; brothers, Stephen Figueroa of Utah, Richard Figueroa, and Mark Figueroa, who shared a special bond with Sandi.

Sandi led a colorful life; with a delicious sense of humor. She found laughter in ordinary things. Although Sandi never had children of her own, every child she met was precious to her. To quote her: "I love children, even brats, 'cause it ain't their fault!"

Sandi revealed to a family member that the highlight of her life, through the generosity of her sister Denise, was a "sister's trip" to Maui, Hawaii, in October 2006. It was there, in her first few hours on the island that Sandi experienced her first and only earthquake! The trip was before Sandi was relegated to pain, suffering, and daily dialysis; therefore, she was able to participate in and enjoy all the island had to offer. She went to a Luau, hiking in a lava cave, parasailing, snorkeling, swimming, and of course, shopping! A courageous sister, Sandi tried the local foods, even Poki Sushi, which she said she didn't have to try again!

Another outstanding adventure for Sandi was a trip to Los Angeles, where she walked the "Hollywood Walk of Fame". She took delight in finding all her favorite movie stars, taking a multitude of pictures to document their location, pictures that were recently discovered by her father. An avid Marilyn Monroe fan, Sandi placed her hands and feet over Marilyn's at the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, in Hollywood. It was her perfect day!

In addition to family mentioned above, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, in both states, will miss her physical presence. However, whenever you feel a warm gentle breeze on a winter day, know that it is Sandi; her feathery "fairy wings", whispering that life on the other side is wonderful! Or, a rain drop in summer, a reminder tear from Sandi, that although we miss her, we will be with her soon. Our baby sister will forever be remembered and missed by all of those who knew and loved her dearly.

Per Sandi's wishes, she has been cremated. Half her ashes remain in Texas, the other half to California, as she had wanted them sprinkled in the Pacific Ocean. Some will go to Maui, where Sandi had so many fond memories.

There will be a memorial service and celebration of her life at a later date in California to honor the beautiful gentle soul that was our Sandi.
