Plano Heritage Commission to discuss Saigling House restoration

The Heritage Commission will discuss restoration of the Saigling House at its Tuesday meeting.

The city plans to turn the house at the corner of 16th Street and H Avenue into a cultural arts center, restoring the prairie-style house to how it looked in 1928 based on old photos.

Plans for the house include removing decking, replacing a covered porch and installing a sculpture garden. The project will also include landscaping in Haggard Park.

The home was built in 1906 by Charles and Celestine Saigling. The family sold it in 1935. At one point, it housed the Collin Intervention to Youth. The city bought the house in 2012 and will take possession in August.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1520 K Ave.
