Police said a mother-and-daughter shoplifting team returned to the location where they had been previously arrested on theft charges and were picked up for allegedly committing a similar crime.
The new incident occurred Saturday at a department store in the 2600 block of University Drive. Store officials spotted the two women and called police.
Officers arrived on scene and waited for the suspects to leave the store.
The 49-year-old mother was the first one out of the store, wearing jeans stolen from Kohl’s underneath her own jeans, according to a police report.
Her 26-year-old daughter followed close behind, carrying a large bag with foil lining on the inside where numerous stolen items such as shoes, clothing and jewelry were found, police reported.
Officers arrested the two women and placed them in the back seat of a patrol car, where the daughter produced a pill bottle filled with three different prescription drugs, including methadone, from an “unknown location.”
She gave her mother one of the pills before officers noticed what she was doing, according to the report.
The daughter was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
