The first Zaxby's restaurant in Shelby County has reopened following a renovation. The newly remodeled 3,400-square-foot location in Lakeland boasts seating for 90, 45 employees and several new menu items.

"We believe the Lakeland restaurant, from the atmosphere to the service, will exceed community expectations," said Jeremy Gattie, co-licensee of the restaurant.

The Lakeland fried chicken mainstay has been under previous ownership for 10 years. The new team of Gattie and Tom Scott own additional Zaxby's locations in Cordova, Memphis and Collierville.

Patrons to the Lakeland Zaxby's will enjoy a revamped indoor decorating scheme complemented by vintage prints and school memorabilia. A Coca-Cola Freestyle machine will enable guests to select from more than 100 soda brands via touch screen.

Menu additions include a Cobb salad and a line of premium milkshakes.
