DECEMBER PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,664 original drilling permits in December 2010 compared to 1,308 in December 2009. The December total included 1,494 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 41 to re-enter existing well bores, and 129 for re-completions. Permits issued in December 2010 included 422 oil, 170 gas, 868 oil and gas, 74 injection, zero service and 130 other permits.
NOVEMBER CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary November 2010 crude oil production averaged 942,446 barrels daily, up from the 875,382 barrels daily average of November 2009.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for November 2010 is 28,273,369 barrels, up from 26,261,464 barrels reported during November 2009.
DECEMBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In December 2010, operators reported 284 oil, 306 gas, 25 injection and zero other completions compared to 310 oil, 360 gas, 29 injection and one other completion during December 2009.
Total well completions for 2010 year to date are 9,939 down from 15,279 recorded during the same period in 2009.
Operators reported 490 holes plugged and zero dry holes in December 2010 compared to 458 holes plugged and one dry hole in December 2009.
NOVEMBER NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 541,770,485 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for November 2010 down from the November 2009 preliminary gas production total of 558,071,779.
Texas production in November 2010 came from 139,535 oil wells and 91,795 gas wells.
