This citizen advisory committee looks to be way different than the one in Denton where the deck was stacked in the frackers’ favor.

City council approves plan to create citizen advisory committee on oil and gas
Council to consider appointing 9-member board during meeting later this month

The committee will include one petroleum engineer, one member of the Lubbock Water Advisory Commission, one oil and gas industry operator, one member of the Board of Health and five members from the community at-large to be appointed by the council within 30 days from the resolution’s adoption.

The advisory committee and city council should hear from citizens who are living in the frack zone so they can learn from direct experience.

We are watching you, Lubbock.

A new problem for fracking : Drillers are running out of water.

A comprehensive survey of fracking and water availability, due to be released Thursday, found that 47% of oil and gas wells are located in high or extremely high water-stressed areas.

In Colorado, 92% of 3,862 wells were in areas designated as extremely high water stressed, meaning that 80% of the available water is already being drawn down for residential consumption or for industrial and agriculture use.

In Texas, which is suffering through a long-running drought that has devastated cattle ranchers and farmers, 51% of wells are in high or extremely high water-stressed locations. Tarrant County, Texas, alone consumed 10% of all water used in fracking in the state, according to the report.

Good post. Likewise in Booger County, the local junta is all bought-off by the GasHoles!
