SRE Matrix, a web-based Honolulu real estate firm that also uses agents and founded by Japanese businessman Takeshi Sekiguchi, has formed an alliance with Keller Williams Honolulu, the two companies said.
They didn't provide many details about the alliance, but called it a joint venture, rather than a merger.
Sekiguchi formed SRE Matrix in May and compared it to the online real estate site Zillow, but said that SRE Matrix has access to more listings.
As of Sept. 22, the listings totaled 10,919, the firm said. In addition, the company offers refunds on the buyer agent's commission.
Keller Williams Honolulu
opened a full-service franchise
in June. At the time, it had hired 140 agents. Its CEO is Kevin Miyama, a former president of the Honolulu Board of Realtors.
