Legendary editor Ben Bradlee, who led The Washington Post's coverage of Watergate, died Tuesday at 93.
Ben Bradlee’s gift for leadership and zest for journalism — and life — made him the most celebrated editor of his era. He directed The Post’s coverage of Watergate, which resulted in the only resignation of a president in U.S. history.

Inequality starts in the crib.
Hard to rise, and harder to fall: Poor college grads stay poor about as much as rich high school dropouts stay rich.

+Steven Jandreau Sorry for the delay. I'll raise two points. The blogger violates two basic social scientific prinicples: 1) parsimony; 2) cumulativeness. Regarding #1, we need to use the simplest available and, regarding #2, accepted standard for assessing inequality. This blogger violates both principles. Regarding #1, the blogger should stick to the two simplest measures of rise/decline in economic inequality: 1) Changes in median GNIpc (Gross National Income per capita) over a time period; 2) Changes in the GINI coefficient (statistical measure of dispersion in income distribution). Also, the graph is a snapshot. It doesn't capture a time (across years) trend on "rich h.s dropouts" and "poor college grads." That's besides the point that the division of the population into two such groups is far more cute and clever than precise and acceptable gauge of income divisions. So, while the blogger's hypotheses on social mobility and income inequality are reasonable, the tests of them are poorly designed though cleverly done. +Igor Livshits , figured this exchange would interest you

Despite the infection-control efforts, a nurse, Nina Pham, 26, somehow contracted Ebola.
As Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan’s condition worsened, workers at a Dallas hospital donned more layers of protective clothing to guard against the virus.

Apparently their protocols were anything but sufficient according to nurses. I believe I would have walked out.

+Ernesto Roca no. Islamic beliefs are like our own. My dad raised me muslim but I converted when I made my own choice. 75% of what's In the qu'ran is in the bible. Digressing. My point is terrorist acts are from extremist not by a whole religion.

The odds are +john splater lives in a town or city and reads his internet blogs everyday.  Must be that the Obama plot has already taken control of his thoughts.

I think it is only a matter of time before these streaming services have good "original" programming. When that day comes, I think that cable tv will be a thing of the past. I personally would sell my soul to have Google fiber here. I could finally drop ATT and have another option besides Cox...

Can't help wondering why the US was still allowing flights from Liberia considering the humongous challenges the authorities there have been facing in containing the spread of the virus. Travels ought to have been temporarily halted.
