Dallas one of the top two Texas cities for VC tech investments

Dallas was ranked as the 18th best city for a tech startup to raise venture capital in the first three quarters of the year.
The information comes from the National Venture Capital Association and was based off the latest MoneyTree report, released on Oct. 17 by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the association.
Dallas is one of two metropolitan areas in Texas listed in the top 20, according to the data which was originally compiled for the Associated Press. The Austin-San Marcos area is listed as No. 1, with San Antonio coming in at No. 28 and the Fort Worth-Arlington area ranking at No. 58. San Francisco topped the list, raising $9.32 billion in venture capital in 506 deals between 449 startups and 443 venture capital firms.

Twenty companies in Dallas made a combined 21 deals with 37 venture capital firms totaling $132.22 million in the first three quarters, according to the data.
Dallas was also home to the second largest venture capital deal in Texas during the third quarter. Teladoc, a telehealth service provider, raised $50.25 million from a group of investors.
