How can I filter out mature, explicit, and unrated content on Vimeo?

To filter out videos that contain mature or explicit material, you can adjust your content rating preferences under the Advanced tab in your Settings. You can filter out all mature content, or select the type(s) of mature content you want to filter, including videos that have not yet been rated.

Once you’ve selected your preferences, videos with the rating you’ve chosen to filter out will no longer show up in your search results.

If you come across a video that doesn't match your preferences in your feed, in a Group or Channel, or elsewhere on the site, the thumbnail of the video will be replaced by a warning. You can either heed this warning or click "I still want to watch this video" to hide the warning.

My Content Rating Preferences are set to exclude mature and explicit content. Why am I still encountering mature videos?

Content ratings are determined by the video's creator. If you set your content preferences to exclude mature content, but you're still seeing mature videos, it either means that the video hasn't been rated or it's been incorrectly rated.

Not to worry, you've got options:

  • You can adjust your preferences to filter out videos that haven't been rated.
  • To report mis-rated videos, click the Flag button underneath a video and choose, "Incorrect Rating." Soon thereafter, a Vimeo moderator will review the video and select a more appropriate rating if applicable.
